The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement yesterday that a local man was found dead on a hill in Zhuhai after losing contact for a day while participating in the Kailas Training Race in Zhuhai.
According to its website, Kailas “is the leading high-end outdoor brand from China.”
The statement said that the MGTO hotline received a request from a local resident who reported losing contact with another local resident during the Kailas Training Race in Zhuhai on Sunday. The statement said that both residents participated in the race.
The statement said that the resident who called MGTO had also contacted the race organiser and the Zhuhai police, fire and rescue authorities.
The resident who called again yesterday morning said that the missing local resident had been found with no vital signs on the hill earlier, adding that the dead residents’ family was now in Zhuhai attending to the matter.
The office said that it was deeply concerned about the incident and extended its deepest condolences to the family. The office vowed to keep in contact with the family to provide appropriate assistance.
The statement underlined that Macau residents who need assistance can call the 24-hour tourism hotline at 2833 3000.
