Sands China’s karaoke contest is back for the 2021 Sands Shopping Carnival, and the public can sign up now.

Prospective contestants can submit their applications for the ICBC ePay Presents: Karaoke King Singing Competition 2021until the application deadline on June 18 at 6 p.m.

The friendly contest is open to permanent and non-permanent Macau identity card holders to compete in one of two categories: a teenage category for ages 12-18 and an adult category for ages 19 and above. Entrants may apply as individuals or group acts, and must present a health code with valid negative nucleic acid test (NAT) to participate in all preliminary and final rounds. There are no application fees or other fees for contestants, and the competition itself is free to attend as part of the 2021 Sands Shopping Carnival, which is also free admission.

Preliminary rounds take place during the first two afternoons of the Sands Shopping Carnival on July 23 and 24. The final round and the awarding of prizes to winners takes place on the final afternoon of the carnival, on July 25. Prizes include trophies, cash, and one night accommodation at a Sands Resorts Macao hotel. Contestants in each age group have a chance to win prizes in either of two newly added categories: Best Performance and Best Costume.

Featuring more than 560 booths, the carnival is the largest shopping event of its kind in Macau. It provides a free business platform for local SMEs and Sands retailers amid the pandemic period, while offering a fun weekend destination and summer hotspot for local residents and tourists.

Carnival-goers can be assured that Sands China will be implementing a series of strict sanitisation and safety measures to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 and safeguard public health.             – spr
