The Macau Cultural Centre (CCM), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), is launching a new edition of “ARTmusing Summer”, a string of imaginative activities, performances and screenings specifically curated for a vast range of audiences – from babies and families to youths and seniors – this year’s series brings entertaining ideas for all.

Tiny tots are invited to explore Baby Space, a multi-sensory performance conceived for pre-walking babies and their caretakers from July 1-4. Produced and staged by Shanghai’s Art Space for Kids, this installation like show encourages the audience to interact with two dancers, triggering the senses and stimulating perception. Unveiling a sequence of soothing choreographed movements and dance textures, the performance is set in a soft and relaxing atmosphere.  Staged to the sound of original music, Baby Space focuses on the kids’ sensorial interrelationship between body, mind, and environment.

Families will enter the sweet world of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, an entertaining experience that will enchant first time theatre goers, allowing parents to reminisce from August 5-8. Based on one of the most read and popular children’s book series of all time, this masterful play brings to life Eric Carle’s well-known stories, introducing young kids to a parade of colourful puppets. Originally created by Jonathan Rockefeller, this Shanghai production will unveil a few other bestselling classic stories by Carle, from Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, to 10 Little Rubber Ducks and the Very Lonely Firefly.

Another event entitled “Bonding in the dark” will be held from August 26-29. Particularly focused on family bonding through the experience of cinema, this year’s ARTmusing Film Carnival invites children, teens and whole families to watch a series of eight internationally prize-winning works. Grownups and their offspring will peek through the windows opened by a diversity of prize-winning motion pictures. From animated adventures to live action stories and gripping documentaries recently presented on screens around the world, the cinema display brings films for everyone.

The last of the series is the Farewell celebration on August 29. Bringing a stream of creative events and games, the popular Artmusing Fun invites families to join the party at the grand season finale. Kids will buzz around CCM’s grounds for a cheering and inspiring afternoon conceived for all. From World music and Peking Opera demonstrations to story-telling and a mini-concert, this fun-filled artistic journey will allow everyone to recharge their batteries.

Given the current epidemic situation, attendance will be limited at all events to guarantee a safe distance between audience members. Venues will be sanitised before each event and everyone in the premises is required to wear a mask, present their health declaration and have their temperature monitored. Due to these adjustments, patrons are advised to arrive early at the venues.                       – ccmpr
