The “Macau Week in Shanghai” was unveiled yesterday to promote Macau’s diverse facets of “tourism +” and raise the city’s profile as a healthy, safe and quality destination in Shanghai, a Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) statement said yesterday.

The statement pointed out that Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng is in Shanghai to preside over the opening ceremony for the event’s mega roadshow which takes place until Monday along Yuanmingyuan Road Pedestrian Street in Waitanyuan, in the metropolis’s Huangpu district.

According to the statement, during the opening ceremony Secretary for Economy and Finance Lei Wai Nong said he hoped that the mega roadshow can highlight the different aspects of Macau’s tourism. He pointed out that Macau plays an important role in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), therefore he hoped that the event could help Macau better integrate with mainland cities.

Moreover, there will also be a sub-event entitled Macau Week in Shanghai – Taste of Macau Food Promotion”, which will present signature buffets from Macau at Café Bellagio of the homonymous hotel by MGM Shanghai starting from today until June 14. The statement said that in line with Macau’s “glamour” as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, the menu comprises 12 signature Macanese and Portuguese delicacies.

The statement also said that there will be influencers to stage an interactive live broadcast in Shanghai to introduce Macanese and Portuguese dishes during the event.
