A dead Chinese white dolphin was found near the Hac Sa Nautical Centre on Saturday morning, according to a statement by the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM)
The Saturday statement said that IAM officials assessed and checked the carcass and determined that the body belonged to an adult male Chinese white dolphin, with a body length of 2.45 metres. The statement pointed out that when the carcass was washed ashore, its abdomen was bloated and large parts of its skin peeled off. Therefore, the officials determined that it has been dead for a while. The statement said that the body had already started to decompose so the bureau would cremate it for hygienic reasons.
The bureau urged residents who spot dead cetaceans to call IAM’s hotline 2833 7676.
This is the fifth dead cetacean to be found this year, according to the Macau Government Information Bureau (GCS) website.
