An exhibition entitled “1+2 過” (the Chinese character means “process”) by local artists Yvette Lou Ka I (老嘉怡) and Wong Ka Iong (黃嘉勇) showcases their artwork at the Youth Art Exhibition and Performance Hall in Praça do Tap Seac.

Lou explained the title of the exhibition to The Macau Post Daily in a phone interview last week: “1” refers to the fact that the two artists have the same concept, while “2” refers to their creative growth process.

Lou holds a bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts Education of the Macau Polytechnic Institute (IPM). Lou told The Macau Post Daily that she has been fond of painting since childhood. She said that artistic creation can be both educational and reflectional.

Wong obtained his bachelor’s degree in Product Design from Ming Chuan University (MCU) in Taipei in 2019. He told The Macau Post Daily that he is a self-taught illustrator and currently works as a graphic designer.

The exhibits describe the normality and little details in life, and some of the works express the psychological changes after they started to explore their career paths as well as their views on interpersonal relationships, both told The Macau Post Daily.

The exhibition showcases computer drawings and watercolours, aiming to convey the duo’s messages about people and life situations. They said the exhibition’s objective is let the audience reflect on matters that have been neglected, ignored or overlooked in daily life.

The exhibition runs until June 20 at the Youth Art Exhibition and Performance Hall in Praça do Tap Seac. It is open from noon to 8 p.m. daily (except Mondays). Admission is free.

As part of the government’s COVID-19 epidemic prevention measures, all visitors entering the venue must wear a facemask, have their temperature checked and present a digital health code.
