Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT) Director Lau Wai Meng told reporters yesterday that 5G will have its own individual licensing system, adding that more details will be revealed in the third quarter of this year.

Lau made the remarks yesterday during a press conference at the General Post Office (GPO) about Macau’s new stamps marking the Centenary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China.

According to Lau, because the government-drafted telecommunication bill has not yet reached the Legislative Assembly for debate and vote, the government will therefore use an individual 5G licensing system. She added that now the telecommunication company concerned and her bureau have been discussing the future system’s details.

When asked by a reporter why Macau Asia Satellite Television Company Limited has been paying its employees late or not been paying them at all, Lau said she could not comment on the matter. She underlined that her bureau is only responsible for the licensing of local TV companies and their technical services.

Meanwhile, during the press conference Lau announced that the new stamp collection for the Centenary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China will be out tomorrow. She proudly presented the stamps to the media.
