A ferry route between Barra pier and Coloane pier will be launched today, and it will operate from Thursday to Sunday, a Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) statement said yesterday.

According to the statement, the route is operated by Shun Tak-China Travel Ship Management, and it is the first route to use the Barra pier as part of a ferry route. The statement said that the company has already finished the testing, docking and other necessary assessments prior to the opening of the route.

The bureau urged passengers to always wear facemasks during the journey or else the ferry company has the right to refuse passengers entry onto the vessel.

According to the Macau Cruise Facebook page, the ferry runs every 25 minutes and each ticket cost 60 patacas. The page noted that the first ferry departs from Barra ferry terminal at 10:30 a.m. while the last ferry departs from Coloane at 6:30 p.m.

The statement said that the Barra pier was opened in March and has so far been a berth for vessels used for official purposes.
