The Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) announced on its website yesterday that it was considering issuing the No. 1 tropical cyclone standby signal this morning, urging residents to take note of the latest weather information.
The No. 1 is an advisory signal, calling attention to the fact that there is a tropical cyclone centred within 800 kilometres of Macau that might later affect the city.
According to statement, a tropical depression near the Philippines is moving across the Bashi Channel towards eastern Guangdong and Fujian. The statement noted that meanwhile another ridge of low pressure over the central part of the South China Sea has intensified into a tropical depression and is generally moving towards Hainan. The bureau forecast unsettled weather over the coast of Guangdong later today.
The bureau reminded residents that there will be more showers and stronger winds in Macau in the following days.
