Macau’s observatory hoisted the tropical cyclone standby Signal No. 1 at 6:30 a.m. yesterday and it was still up at 3 a.m. today.
According to a statement by the Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG),
“the possibility of issuing a higher signal is low before dawn.”
At 2 a.m. the tropical depression was located about 560 km south-southwest of Macau, moving toward Hainan province.
No.1 is an advisory signal, indicating that a tropical cyclone is centred within 800 kilometres of Macau which “may affect” the city.
At 3 a.m. the mercury in Macau stood at 7 degrees Celsius. Relative humidity amounted to 93 percent, according to the bureau.
