The 12th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF) will be held next Thursday and Friday, the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) said in a statement yesterday.
According to the IIICF website, the forum will be held at the Venetian in Cotai.
According to the statement, after 11 years of development, the forum has become Macau’s most influential annual event in the field of international infrastructure cooperation. The statement noted that some mainland enterprises signed projects with their counterparts from Portuguese-speaking countries through the forum, based on Macau’s role as a commercial and trade cooperation service platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. The statement pointed out that the conferences and concurrent sub-forums held during the event have helped enterprises better understand the infrastructure markets of Portuguese-speaking countries and countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), thus serving as an important reference for future business development in these regions.
The statement said that China Railway 20th Bureau Group Co. Ltd signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the concession project of a sea-crossing bridge to connect Brazil’s city of Salvador and Itaparica Island and other related contracts at the 9th IIICF. The statement also said that Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA) signed two project contracts at the 10th IIICF, one of which is a wind power project in northern Luzon, pointing out that the projects are now proceeding steadily. The statement also noted that China Road & Bridge Corporation signed a contract for a project in Mozambique at the 8th IIICF, and later submitted a feasibility study report, which has meanwhile been approved by the authorities. The statement underlined that all those companies appreciated Macau’s role as a platform and cooperation facilitator among countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
According to the statement, since relocating from Beijing to Macau in 2012, IIICF has been staged in Macau for nine consecutive years, adding that last year it has organised a number of thematic and concurrent sub-forums as well as special activities. The statement said that last year 12 cooperation agreements were signed between Chinese and foreign enterprises in various fields including road transport, residential building construction, photovoltaic power stations, and wind power.
