A local bartender’s driving licence has been revoked for violating a driving ban for DUI in conjunction with a hit-and-run offence, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Leong Chi Seng said at a press briefing yesterday.

Traffic police officers intercepted a car while they were carrying out a roadblock in Avenida de Kwong Tung in Taipa last Thursday afternoon. The driver was unable to show his driving licence or his car insurance documents so the officers took him to a police station for questioning, Leong said.

The 25-year-old local man surnamed Si told the police that he works as a bartender.

According to Leong, PSP officers discovered that Si was involved in a DUI (driving under the influence) and hit-and-run offence in March. He was given to a one-and-a-half year driving ban.

Leong said Si faces charges of aggravated violation of an official order and was sentenced yesterday to four months’ imprisonment, suspended for three years, and the revocation of his driving licence.

Leong did not elaborate on the duration of the revocation.
