Melco Resorts & Entertainment unveiled its exhibition titled “LA MER” yesterday with the aim of supporting the government by bringing diverse arts experiences to the “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2021” event themed “To Create for Well-Being”, the resort operator said in a statement.

The statement noted that the exhibition features artworks by French artists Ange Leccia and Thomas Roussel, Japan’s Makoto Azuma and Belgium’s Franco Dragone. The works pay tribute to the oceans while highlighting the vital importance of conserving them for future generations.

Art works include “LA MER” (“The Sea”) by Ange Leccia, which is a video work recording the endless movement of the waves as they emerge and crash onto the beach; “W/AV/E” by Thomas Roussel, created by using music and artificial intelligence (AI) to immerse the audience in a constantly changing audiovisual seascape; and “SEPHIROTHIC FLOWER” by Makoto Azuma, which chronicles the journey of the artist’s self-made bouquet to the depths of the ocean. In “OCEANS” by Franco Dragone, the artist uses the staging and machinery of his Dancing Water Theatre to create a dramatic spectacle.

In addition, the exhibition will also feature the “LA MER” Film Festival, as well as a series of Flow Body Mindfulness classes inspired by the sea, the “SEA x ART” Forum with mainland Chinese freediver Wang Aolin and underwater photographer Uncle J (Guo Jiyong) sharing their underwater experiences, as well as the House of Dancing Water Underwater Discoveries, which will give visitors the opportunity to witness the secrets of its divers and its underwater stage.

As part of the government’s COVID-19 pandemic prevention measures, all visitors entering the venues must wear a facemask, have their temperature checked and present a valid Macau Health Code.

The exhibition is on display from Wednesdays to Sundays, and runs until October 31 at the Dancing Water Theatre, City of Dreams (COD) in Cotai. Admission is free.
