A dance piece created by local choreographer Keith Lao (劉沛麟) entitled “Pulsating Morphosis” will be staged at the Macau Cultural Centre’s (CCM) Small Auditorium on September 24-25, the centre said in a statement on Wednesday.
The statement said that the performance has been organised by the Macau Cultural Centre in collaboration with the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) as part of its Artist-in-Residences & Cultural Exchange Project.
According to the statement, Lao created “Pulsating Morphosis” under the guidance of dance instructor Sang Jijia and the Hong Kong City Contemporary Dance Company. The performance shows Lao’s vision of Macau and merges the aesthetics of human movement with a sprinkling of technology, the statement further noted.
The statement underlined that the recital features a group of local and Guangdong dancers, as well as experimental Hong Kong sound artist Dickson Dee and local visual designer O Chi Wai. The statement also said that they have all been tasked with bringing out the three dimensions and different forms of “Pulsating Morphosis”, from the skyline and crowded pavements, to narrow streets, traffic lights and the uniqueness of the city’s odours.
According to the statement, Lao’s short yet consistent career has allowed him to garner creative experiences through collaborations with international contemporary dance masters and choreographers. Lao also said in the statement that he was a participant in an educational project mentored by the renowned Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan.
The statement noted that as part of the government’s COVID-19 pandemic prevention measures, all visitors entering the venue must wear a facemask, have their temperature checked and present a valid Macau Health Code.
Tickets priced at 180 patacas will be on sale at CCM’s box office and Macau Ticketing Network outlets from Sunday. Various discounts will be available.
