Macau's 116 hotels and inns recorded 469,000 guests in June, a year-on-year growth of 245.9 percent, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) has announced.
According to a DSEC statement last week, the number of guests from the Chinese mainland rose 418.2 percent year on year to 357,000 in June. Mainlanders accounted for 76.1 percent of all guests.
In June, the number of local staycationers rose 56.8 percent year on year to 83,000.
On average, guests stayed for 1.7 nights.
The number of available guestrooms rose 1.7 percent to 35,000 at the end of June.
The statement pointed out that data on hotels and inns designated for COVID-19 prevention quarantine purposes were excluded from the sector's statistics.
The average room occupancy rate increased 33.5 percentage points to 45.3 percent. However, June's rate amounted to a decrease of 16.8 percent points compared to the preceding month due to reinforced COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control measures in Guangdong and Macau in early June, the bureau pointed out.
In the first half of this year, the number of hotel and inn guests rose 84.5 percent year on year to 3.37 million.
