Liaison Office in Macau gets new vice-director

The State Council has appointed Zheng Xincong as one of the four vice-directors of the Central People’s Government Liaison Office in Macau, according to a statement by the office in Macau on Friday.

Zheng succeeds Luo Yonggang, who has been appointed as a vice-director of the Central People’s Government Liaison Office in Hong Kong.

The other three vice-directors of the liaison office in Macau, which is headed by Fu Ziying, are Zhang Rongshun, Yao Jian and Yan Zhichan.

Zheng, born in 1963 in Fujian province, has a bachelor’s degree from the Party School of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Zheng, an engineer by profession, started to work in August 1982, before joining the Communist Party of China in December 1986.

Zheng was a vice-governor of Fujian province before his appointment to Macau.

Zheng became a vice-governor of Fujian province in January 2018, a position he held until April 2019. Since May 2019 Zheng had been a member of the standing committee of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, before his appointment to Macau. He was reappointed as a vice-governor of the province in April this year.

Zheng was the general manager of the Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group Company Limited. Zheng was appointed the mayor of Ningde city in Fujian in 2011, before becoming the mayor of Quanzhou city in the province in 2013. He was appointed the secretary of the CPC Quanzhou Committee in 2015.
