The Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) said in a statement yesterday that it has noticed that there is red tide on the coastline at Cheoc Van Beach, urging residents not to swim in the area until further notice.

According to the statement, the bureau immediately hoisted the red flag signal and published a notice to warn residents about the red tide. The statement said that the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) and the Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA) went to the beach to investigate, adding that there did not appear to be any “irregularities” at Hac Sa Beach but the three bureaus will continue to monitor the situation.

The statement noted that residents can check the beach’s real-time situation on the DSAMA app and website. The statement reminded people who plan to use the beach or engage in water activities to pay close attention to the red tide reports and avoid going into the water when warning signals are hoisted.
