Events & facilities suspended or closed due to Delta variant family cluster

The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL), Sports Bureau (ID), Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) and Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) announced in separate statements last night that they are suspending some of their events and closing some of their facilities due to the COVID-19 Delta variant family cluster confirmed yesterday.

Cultural Affairs Bureau’s activities and venues

According to one of several IC statements yesterday, all events hosted by the bureau at certain venues, such as museums, public libraries, cultural heritage sites and craft markets, are cancelled until August 16 due to the current COVID-19 cases.

Other IC statements said that its summer activities, courses and training programmes are either cancelled or rescheduled, adding that the bureau will notify participants when new arrangements are made.

In a separate statement, the bureau said that the Wong Ieng Kuan Library in Luís de Camões Garden is closed until further notice, urging residents to pay attention to the bureau’s announcement.

In another statement, the bureau announced that starting from today all cultural facilities will be closed, including the Macau Museum, Macau Cultural Centre, and Navy Yards No.1 and No.2. The statement did not mention if all libraries (besides Wong Ieng Kuan Library in Luís de Camões Garden) are affected by the current COVID-19 situation.

The statements said that the bureau will continue monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic situation and actively comply with the Health Bureau (SSM) measures. For enquiries, residents can call 8399 6699 during office hours.

Labour Affairs Bureau’s expo

Meanwhile, the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) said in a statement that due to the COVID-19 situation in Macau the bureau has decided to cancel its Youth Career Expo 2021 scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday. For more information, the bureau asked residents to visit http://www.youthcareerexpo.org.mo.

Sports Bureau facilities & activities

The Sports Bureau said in a statement yesterday that all its facilities will be closed starting today. In a separate statement the bureau announced that public physical education, training activities and youth school sports activities and courses have been cancelled, starting yesterday. The bureau also urged residents to pay attention to the COVID-19 pandemic development and thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation.

MGTO facilities & activities

According to a Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) statement, the Macau Grand Prix Museum and Lei Si Building are closed until further notice. The statement added that for those who have already bought their admission tickets, a refund process will be announced in the near future.

A separate MGTO statement announced the cancellation of the “Stay, Dine and See Macao” local tours from today until Friday. The statement also said that other MGTO activities such as training courses and celebratory activities will be cancelled or rescheduled until further notice.

The statement said that MGTO will continue to monitor the situation and make arrangements according to Health Bureau (SSM) guidelines.

DSEDJ activities & facilities

In a statement, the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) said that its facilities –Loving the Country, Loving Macau Education Base for Young People, “Feeling of love for the motherland pavilion”, its youth hostels, the Juvenile Art Exhibition and Performance Hall, its study rooms and school facilities that are open to the public are all closed sine die due to the current COVID-19 situation.

IAS nurseries

According to a statement by the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS), all subsidised nurseries are closed from today until Friday. The statement added that depending on the COVID-19 situation, it will make arrangements accordingly. The bureau urged private nurseries to follow the bureau’s measure.
