The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre and multiple government entities announced in separate statements yesterday about the closure or suspension of their venues or services.
Entertainment venues
The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre said in a follow-up statement yesterday that such premises include cinemas, theatres, indoor playgrounds, amusement arcades, cybercafés, snooker halls, bowling alleys, public saunas, massage parlours, beauty salons, gyms, health clubs, karaoke bars, bars/ pubs, night clubs, discos, ballrooms, and halls for singing and dancing.
Environmental Protection Bureau
The Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA) said in a statement yesterday that its “electronics and appliances recycling scheme” is suspended, including the home-collection service, portable recycling vehicle programme, all the portable recycling and fixed recycling spots. Moreover, the statement also said that the four recycle FUN programmes” and its recycling spots, the portable recycling vehicles and the clean recycling street stations were all closed from yesterday until August 17. The bureau said it will continue to monitor the development of COVID-19.
Fire Services Bureau
The Fire Services Bureau (CB) said in the statement yesterday that due to the Delta variant, it is closing its Fire Services Museum until further notice.
Moreover, the Fire Services Bureau said in a separate statement that its helpline (119, 120, 28572222) were facing some technical difficulties starting at 5 p.m. and were not able to receive calls. The bureau urged residents to call the police to contact the bureau. The statement also pointed out that its fire engines were patrolling the city, asking residents to wave if help was needed.
In a separate CB statement, the bureau said that the helpline had been fixed at 9:28 p.m.
Cultural Affairs Bureau
Meanwhile, on the Macau public library website, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) said in statement that starting yesterday all public libraries would be closed sine die, adding that the return dates for borrowed book will be extended but the automatic book return services remain open to the public.
Macau Government Tourism Office
The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement that all its local tours from yesterday until next Wednesday (August 11) are cancelled. The statement said that affected residents could call 8396 309 or 2838 9153 for enquiries.
Marine and Water Bureau
The Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) said in a statement yesterday that ferries between the Inner Harbour and Zhuhai’s Wanzai are suspended until further notice.
Social Welfare Bureau
The Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) said in a statement yesterday that all non-caretaking service facilities are suspended until tomorrow. The statement underlined that caretaking service facilities (besides nurseries) remain open. However, the bureau said that those who are not in urgent need should not go to the service facilities and remain at home. The bureau said that residents could contact the respective facilities to ask for more information.
Meanwhile, the bureau asked Caritas to open its facilities in Ilhas Verde as a temporary shelter for those affected by the COVID-19 situation. The facility is located in 34 Rua Leste da Ilha Verde, Bairro da Ilha Verde Building E1. The statement said that the centre is open from 6 p.m. until 8 a.m. and the centre will be under deep cleaning and disinfection during the hours it is closed.
The statement said that the centre follows the Health Bureau (SSM) guidelines which include preparing sufficient COVID-19 prevention supplies, while those staying there overnight must have their temperatures checked, show a valid Macau Health Code, wear a facemask, and maintain a one-metre “social distance” from one another. The statement said that for any enquiries, people can call 2827 0939 during office hours or 6399 1963 during non-office hours.
Macau Foundation
The Macau Foundation statement urged subsidised associations to immediately cancel group activities or activities outside Macau in order to comply with SSM COVID-19 prevention and control guidelines. The statement also said that associations should reconsider their other activities and pay close attention to the COVID-19 pandemic development. The statement underlined that if associations alter their plans, they need to notify the foundation by filling in a form and emailing it to the foundation.

Municipal Affairs Bureau
The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) said in a statement yesterday that its activity centres in various districts, indoor facilities and venues, as well as the Guia Hill Cable Car under the management of the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) are temporarily closed to the public until further notice. The statement also said that during the period, the activities and classes held at the venues concerned are also suspended. However, the statement pointed out that outdoor facilities such as parks, gardens and leisure areas remain open as usual.
According to the statement, the temporarily closed activities centres comprise the S. Domingos Activity Centre, S. Lourenço Activity Centre, Iao Hon Activity Centre, Rotunda de Carlos da Maia Activity Centre, Fai Chi, Kei Activity Centre, Patane Activity Centre, Seac Pai Van Activity Centre, Ká Hó Activity Centre, Edifício do Bairro da Ilha Verde Activity Centre.
The statement also said that the temporarily closed exhibition and educational venues comprise the IAM Headquarters (ex-Leal Senado), Commemorative Gallery of the Macau Basic Law, Exhibition Centre of the Sculpture Park of Chinese Ethnic Minorities, Chon Chou Tong Pavilion and Iong Sam Tong Pavilion in Lou Lim Ioc Park, Macau Tea Culture House, Civic Education Resource Centre, Civic Education Kiosk in Praça de Ponte e Horta, Food Information Corner, Mong Há Eco-Centre, Guia Hill Military Tunnels, Guia Hill Nature Information Station, Activity Room of Flower City Park, Carmo Hall, Pavilion of Animal Specimens in Macau, Natural and Agrarian Museum, Macau Giant Panda Information Centre, and the Macau Giant Panda Gift Shop.
The statement underlined that the temporarily closed indoor animal pavilions comprise Flora Park – Cute Animal Zone, Macau Giant Panda Pavilion, and the Pavilion of Rare Animals.
The bureau urged residents to pay attention to the arrangements.
