An exhibition entitled “Creative City Pavilion (創意城巿館): Nanjing, the City of Literature – Opening Up the Realm” (南京:文學之都 – 開境), which is part of the ongoing Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2021 event, is being held at the Tap Seac Gallery.
The exhibition is sponsored by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) in conjunction with the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO).
According to a statement by the bureau, the exhibition features the work of dozens of outstanding poets, novelists, critics and artists from Nanjing, such as manuscripts, calligraphies and documentaries.
The exhibition also displays paintings of worms by Zhu Yingchun (朱贏椿), an interactive art project known as Ding Cheng Pharmacy (丁成藥店), portraits of a writer known as “Potato Brother” (馬鈴薯兄弟), and a small book fair, offering visitors a lot of interactive activities.
The statement points out that Nanjing is a city of literature and creation, with a literary tradition of over 1,800 years, featuring many influential masters and masterpieces.
The statement underlines that the exhibition helps open up the literary realm of Nanjing where visitors can experience the new level the city’s literature has reached. Through the literary eyes of Nanjing writers, visitors can have a refreshing look at the city’s realm of life. The exhibition’s curator is Huang Fan (黃梵), a poet and novelist from the mainland. The chief curator is local poet and translator Yao Feng (姚風).
The exhibition is on display until October 3 at the Tap Seac Gallery at 95 Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Admission is free. For more information, visit the website https://www.artmacao.mo/2021/eng.
