5-year-old boy saved from drowning in hotel pool: firefighters

A 5-year-old boy almost drowned at the Mandarin Oriental’s swimming pool yesterday, a statement by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) said.

According to the statement, at 5:30 p.m. yesterday the firefighters said that a local boy almost drowned in a 0.9 metre-deep pool at the hotel. The statement said that the mother of the boy saw that he was drowning and rescued him. The statement noted that when he was rescued, he vomited but did not have any apparent wounds.

The statement underlined that his parents accompanied him to the public Hospital São Januário Centre, adding that he was in stable condition.
