A local man was caught red-handed on Wednesday for taking upskirts of a woman near São Lourenço Church earlier that day, Public Security Police (PSP) Choi Iok Kin said at a press briefing yesterday.
The married local suspect, in his forties, surnamed Lei, told the police that he works as a casino cage staff member.
According to Choi, a woman in her thirties went to a police station on Wednesday afternoon with the suspect. She told the police that the man took upskirts of her when she walked through Largo do Aquino near the São Lourenço Church earlier that day. The victim said that she discovered the man had been following her for some time, and she turned around and discovered that the man was using his smartphone to take upskirts of her. She stopped the man and took him to the police station to report the case.
Under questioning, Lei admitted taking upskirts of the woman. He told the police that he was attracted by what the woman was wearing and was unable to control himself. The Public Security Police found four upskirt video clips of the woman on his smartphone. PSP officers went to Lei’s home in the city centre later that day and retrieved from his laptop computer more than 440 photos and over 130 video clips of “important parts” of different women.
Lei told the police that he took 31 photos and 30 videos in various locations in Macau. The rest of the photos and videos were downloaded from websites. Choi said Lei started upskirting in the middle of 2018.
The case will be transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP). Lei faces an invasion of privacy charge, according to Choi.
