The Public Security Police (PSP) said in a statement that 14 people were detained during their Thunderbolt Operation 2021 yesterday.

According to the statement, between late Wednesday and the early yesterday 72 police officers intercepted 398 people, 14 of whom – 11 males and three females – were detained, including two male overstayers and a mainland woman who sheltered them. The statement also underlined that nine males and two females were detained for illegal currency exchange activities.

Meanwhile, the statement noted that 42 vehicles were intercepted yesterday, adding that three drivers were fined, one for not wearing a seatbelt, one for not having his or her driving licence, and one for not having a rear-view mirror on the motorcycle.

The statement said that the Thunderbolt Operation 2021 organised by the Unitary Police Service (SPU) sent police officers from various departments to patrol the northern district, Zape and Cotai. The statement said the aim of yesterday’s operation was to clamp down on unlicensed currency exchange activities, prostitution and other illegal activities.
