A Filipino security guard was arrested last week for peeping at a 27-year-old female non-resident worker in a women’s toilet on July 17 in Avenida Panorâmica do Lago Sai Van, Public Security Police (PSP) spokeswoman Erica Cheong Im Sim said in a press conference on Friday.
The 31-year-old suspect surnamed Pascual has worked as a security guard in a shop in Avenida Panorâmica do Lago Sai Van for six years.
According to Cheong, a female employee of a shop in Avenida Panorâmica do Lago Sai Van reported to the police last week that she suspected her male colleague had peeped at her when she went into a women’s toilet to change her clothes on July 17 at about 8 p.m. She told the police that she heard a noise in the corridor outside the toilet and when she went out to see who was there, she saw her colleague rushing away with his smartphone in his hand.
Cheong said after the victim thought over the incident, she discussed the matter with a 35-year-old local female colleague who told her that she also suspected that someone had peeped at her in the toilet in April. The victim, who is from the mainland, decided to report the case to the police about a week later.
According to Cheong, PSP officers scrutinised the CCTV footage of the area and discovered that Pascual had followed his female colleague into the women’s toilet. Under questioning, Pascual admitted to peeping at women in toilets, but the officers did not find any incriminating photos or videos on his smartphone. Pascual told the police that he started peeping at women in toilets in February but he could not remember how many times he had done so.
Pascual had been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing an invasion of privacy charge, according to Cheong.
