The Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) said in a statement yesterday that Tropical Cyclone Conson is forecast to enter the South China Sea tomorrow and intensify, adding that the storm is expected to bring hot weather today and tomorrow, and heavy rain at the weekend.

According to the statement, Conson was moving across the Philippines yesterday, and it will generally move towards the areas between the western coast of Guangdong and Hainan. The bureau urged the public to pay close attention to its latest weather bulletins.

The bureau also hoisted a yellow hot weather alert for today and tomorrow as it is expected that the maximum temperature will be 33 degrees Celsius or above. The bureau advised the public to beware of heatstroke, and drink plenty of water.

Meanwhile, the statement also said that another tropical cyclone, Chanthu, has developed over the northwest Pacific, pointing out that it is forecast to move west in the next couple of days, generally towards the area between the Bashi Channel and Taiwan.

This map provided by the Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) last night shows the respective locations of tropical cyclones – Conson and Chanthu – and their predicted paths over the next few days.
