The candidates have fulfilled their duty of loving the motherland and loving Macau, and actively made preparations and participated in the elections, said the spokesperson.

The elections were held in a clean, harmonious and orderly way, the spokesperson said, adding that the 7th Legislative Assembly elections have shown the spirit of law-based governance in the MSAR.

The whole election process has vividly shown the full and faithful implementation of the "One Country, Two Systems" policy, under which the people of Macau govern Macau, with a high degree of autonomy in the region, the spokesperson added.

Underlining that the Guangdong-Macau in-depth cooperation zone in Hengqin will offer broad space for the MSAR to better integrate itself into the Chinese mainland's development, the spokesperson noted that the "One Country, Two Systems" practice in Macau embraces major development opportunities.

The Liaison Office has trust in the new Legislative Assembly, the spokesperson said, adding that the legislature will fully and faithfully implement the "One Country, Two Systems" policy, exercise its power as prescribed in the MSAR Basic Law, and build on the consensus of all sectors of civil society.
