Vice Premier Han Zheng met with Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng in Zhuhai yesterday.
Ho was in Zhuhai to attend yesterday's inauguration ceremony of the Administrative Organizations of the Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.
Han, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, spoke highly of the recent work of the MSAR government. He also congratulated Macau on last Sunday's smooth election of the 7th Legislative Assembly of the MSAR.
The vice premier said the Legislative Assembly election fully displayed the "patriots administering Macao" principle and was a successful practice of the "One Country, Two Systems" principle with Macau characteristics.
The core mission of the Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin was to promote a moderately diversified economy in Macau. It will create broad space and give strong impetus for Macau's economic and social development, Han said.
He expressed the hope that Macau would make full use of the cooperation zone in Hengqin and enhance cooperation between Guangdong and Macau.
The vice premier also called for unremitting efforts in COVID-19 prevention and control in Macau.
Ho thanked the central government for its concern and support for Macau. Ho said Macau would seize the major opportunity provided by the in-depth cooperation zone, make good use of its supporting policies, and make solid efforts to promote the development of a moderately diversified economy in Macau. – Xinhua, MPD
