A local man was arrested last week for taking upskirts of a woman wearing a work uniform and tights in Nape earlier that day, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Kam Ka Kit said at a press briefing on Friday.
The 41-year-old suspect surnamed Leong told the police that he is a chef.
According to Kam, a woman reported to the police last Monday morning that a man had taken upskirts of her when she was walking in Rua de Roma earlier that day. She told the police she discovered that someone following her was using a smartphone to take upskirts. The victim stopped Leong who ran away towards Rua de Paris. The victim gave chase but failed to catch the man, so she reported the case to the police.
Kam said PSP officers scrutinised the area’s CCTV footage and identified Leong based on his car registration plate number. The officers arrested him in his flat in Rua da Alegria in San Kio district around noon on the same day. Under questioning, Leong admitted that he was keenly interested in women wearing uniforms and tights. He said that he had been taking upskirts since 2019. The officers later discovered more than 1,500 upskirts on Leong’s smartphone.
Leong has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing an invasion of privacy charge, according to Kam.
