During the National Day Golden Week holiday, the Macau International Food Festival (Hengqin Station) and the 2nd Macau Cultural Gastronomy Festival was held and will close tomorrow, according a recent statement by the organising committee for the two culinary festivals.
The statement pointed out that the Macau International Food Festival has been held for 11 years and it was not until last year that it added its Hengqin station to give mainlanders the chance to savour Macau’s different cuisines.
The statement noted that this time the festival is themed “Hengqin-Macau gastronomy search on a trendy FUN island”, comprising over 110 booths. The statement noted that at the “Macau Delicacy Street” there are Zhuhai restaurant operators that serve Macau dishes such as curried brisket, Portuguese egg tarts, bacalhau balls and other specialities and titbits. The statement added that there are also other culinary delights available such as mini skewers, hamburgers, mango sticky rice and other cuisines from all over the world.
According to the statement, besides good food, there are also music performances, games and a piece of China’s traditional art of paper cutting themed “Ten bridges connected, Hengqin-Macau heart to heart” that is being displayed at the festival.
The “Hengqin-Macau life craft market” is also hosted concurrently with the two festivals, showcasing arts and crafts for sale.
This handout photo provided by the organisers last week shows a scene from the two culinary festivals promoting Macau’s different cuisines in Hengqin.
