Macau's Civil Protection Operations Centre said in a statement this morning that the State of Immediate Prevention was to end at noon today.

The State of Immediate Prevention was declared by Acting Chief Executive Andre Cheong Weng Chon on September 24 and took effect on the following day. At that time, the government said the declaration of the State of Immediate Prevention was needed to respond to the risk of a COVID-19 community outbreak in order to avoid the local transmission of the novel coronavirus and safeguard people's life and property.

The government's September 24 declaration came in response to a COVID-19 Delta variant cluster confirmed at that time.

As of this afternoon, Macau's COVID-19 tally stood at 77. No novel coronavirus fatalities have been reported in Macau. All the cases have been classified by the Health Bureau (SSM) as imported or connected to imported cases. Macau confirmed its first COVID-19 case on January 22 last year.
