Following the recent improvements in the city’s COVID-19 pandemic situation, the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) announced in a statement yesterday that it will continue to promote Macau as a safe destination to mainland visitors through various social media platforms, while also announcing today’s reopening of the Grand Prix Museum.
The statement noted that efforts are being put into promoting the city via social media platforms including WeChat, Weibo, Xiaohongshu and Douyin, and through the platforms of Macau’s key opinion leaders (KOLs).
The statement also pointed out that with the new cross-border arrangements requiring a valid negative result of a COVID-19 Nucleic Acid Test (NAT) issued within 48 hours from those leaving the city, MGTO has released a short video on its social network accounts to explain these arrangements. The statement added that the latest travel information is shared on these networks while KOLs also promote the city as a safe travel destination on Douyin and Xiaohongshu. In order to draw young visitors, MGTO has released a series of video clips titled “Fall in Love with Macau 100 ways”, which give entertainment and travel tips such as dining and leisure experiences.
The statement said that MGTO’s mascot, MAK MAK, welcomed visitors at the Barrier Gate checkpoint yesterday while staff distributed travel brochures from MGTO’s Tourist Information counter.
Meanwhile, the statement underlined today’s reopening of the Grand Prix Museum in Zape and the Ritz Building on Largo do Senado.
In accordance with the government’s COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control guidelines, the statement reminded the public that a visitor limit of around 1,100 visitors per day will remain in place at the Grand Prix Museum, also noting the resumption of the museum’s free-guided tour and group visit applications. The statement said that enquiries can be made by calling 8593 0515 or 8593 0516.
Also resuming its services, the Ritz Building will allow venue reservations and will reopen its tourist information counter, exhibition hall, the nursing room on the 1st floor, and the internet service area (individual use) on the ground floor today, the statement noted.
The statement emphasised that MGTO will continue to conduct anti-pandemic measures imposed by the Health Bureau (SSM) and maintain the cleanliness of the facilities.
Maritime Museum reopens today
Meanwhile, the Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) said in a statement yesterday that its Maritime Museum reopens today. The statement said that in order to promote Macau’s maritime history the museum has been open to Macau residents for free since 2017 but from today it will allow everyone (not just locals) to visit it for free.
The statement said that the opening hours of the museum near Ma Kok Temple run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. It is closed on Tuesdays.
