Over 30,000 upskirts found on suspect’s phone

A non-resident worker from the mainland was arrested on Friday near a bus stop at Ka Ho reservoir in Coloane upskirting a local woman on a bus for earlier that week, Public Security Police (PSP) spokeswoman Erica Cheong Im Sim said at a press briefing yesterday.

The 47-year-old suspect surnamed Zhan told the police that he is a worker.

According to Cheong, a local woman in her twenties reported to the police on Thursday that a man took upskirts of her with his smartphone when she was on a bus from Coloane to the Barrier Gate on the previous day. She stopped the man and told him to delete the film. Afterwards, the victim decided to report the case to the police.

Cheong said the Public Security Police scrutinised CCTV footage of the bus as well as nearby areas and arrested Zhan on Friday morning near a bus stop at Ka Ho reservoir in Coloane. Under questioning, Zhan admitted to taking upskirts of the woman. He also admitted that he had been upskirting women’s legs for many years. Cheong added that PSP officers managed to retrieve from Zhan’s smartphone more than 30,000 upskirts of women’s legs which he had deleted.

Zhan has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing an invasion of privacy charge, according to Cheong.
