Global COVID-19 tally tops 250 million

The world's reported cases of COVID-19 reached over 250 million today, the US-based real-time statistics reference website Worldometer reported. 

At 3:46 p.m. today (Macau time), the reported number of global novel coronavirus cases stood at 250,299,250, accounting for 3.1 percent of the world population of 7.905 billion, according to worldometers.info.

The world's COVID-19 death toll stood at 5.06 million, accounting for 2.0 percent of all reported cases. 

The countries with the most reported COVID-19 cases were the US (47.3 million), India (34.3 million) and Brazil (21.8 million). Those with the most fatalities were the US (775,095), Brazil (609,417) and India (460,787).

As of this afternoon, Macau's COVID-19 tally stood at 77, while its death toll remained at zero. Macau confirmed its first COVID-19 case on January 22, 2020.
