As recently there have been incidents when the ashes from burning incense have caught fire on the ground, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) warned in a statement yesterday that those in charge of local temples should ensure that all fire extinguishers are up-to-date and that they have adequate fire safety equipment.
The bureau urged local temples to abide by the fire prevention safety guidelines and ensure that all fire extinguishers are checked regularly. The statement underlined that temples should also check and renew their electrical system regularly.
According to the statement, the bureau has been inspecting temples and having meetings with temple representatives. The statement also urged those in charge of temples to strictly follow the bureau’s fire prevention safety guidelines, ensure that all joss sticks are extinguished before closing up for the night and turn off their electricity at night.
