Zhuhai has raised the validity of the negative nucleic acid test (NAT) result for arrivals from Macau to seven days from just 48 hours.

According to a statement by the Zhuhai health authorities quoted by the Macau Government Information Bureau (GCS) yesterday, the measure took effect at 1 a.m. today.

Before today – i.e., since the Zhuhai authorities lifted their 14-day mandatory quarantine for arrivals from Macau on October 19, those entering Zhuhai from Macau had had to present a NAT certificate confirming a negative COVID-19 result valid for 48 hours – which had been in force until last night.

The Zhuhai health authorities imposed 14-day mandatory quarantine for arrivals from Macau in late September in the wake of a quarantine hotel security staff Delta variant cluster here, before lifting the quarantine requirement on October 19.

The negative NAT result for those entering Macau from Zhuhai has always remained valid for seven days.

NAT validity for HK arrivals raised to 72 hours

Meanwhile, the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announced in a statement yesterday that the Macau government has raised the validity of the negative NAT result for arrivals from Hong Kong to 72 hours from just 24 hours. The relaxed NAT validity for those arriving in Macau from Hong Kong took effect at 1 a.m. today.

The statement noted that the Macau government’s 14-day hotel quarantine requirement for Hong Kong arrivals remains unchanged.
