A local man was arrested last week for stealing a motorbike last Wednesday, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Kam Ka Kit said at a press conference on Monday.

The 41-year-old suspect surnamed Sio told the police that he works as a casino dealer.

According to Kam, a resident reported to the Public Security Police last Thursday that his or her motorbike parked in Rua de Malaca in Zape had gone missing. PSP officers scrutinised CCTV footage of the nearby area and identified Sio as the suspect. The officers arrested Sio at his home in Rua da Praia do Manduco on the following day and retrieved the victim’s motorbike key in his flat.

Under questioning, Sio admitted to stealing and using the vehicle out of greed. He told the police that he discovered the motorbike left with the key in the ignition on that day so he rode it to the northern district and parked it in Avenida do Parque Industrial. He then took a bus back to Rua de Malaca and rode home on his own motorbike. Sio said he kept the stolen vehicle for his own use in the future, Kam said.

Sio was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) last Friday, facing a charge of using a stolen vehicle, according to Article 202 of the Macau Penal Code, Kam said.
