Macau and Shenzhen’s consumer councils tested 15 smartwatches from 14 different brands and discovered that two were below standard while seven were given five-star rating, a Macau Consumer Council (CC) statement said yesterday.
According to the statement, the 15 watches were priced from 1,000 to 3,600 patacas. The statement identified the brands as EZON, HONOR, vivio, Nubia, Amazfit, Ticwatch, OPPO, GARMIN, SUNNTO, Apple, Mi, Samsung, OnePlus and HUAWEI. The statement noted that they were bought online or from the respective brand shops in Macau.
The statement said that the seven smart watches that received five-stars were HUAWEI WATCH GT 2 Pro, OnePlus Watch, Amazfit T-Rex Pro, HONOR MagicWatch 2, Samsung Galaxy Watch 3, Mi and Amazfit GTR 2e, adding that the two subpar watches were EZON R6 and Ticwatch.
The statement added that even though EZON R6 scored 4-5 stars on most of the categories, its eco-friendly label was below standard. Ticwatch’s personal information security system only scored one-star as its verification code can be used repeatedly.
The statement added that as local residents are starting to consume outside Macau, the consumer councils in the Greater Bay Areas will continue to cooperate to compare different products to ensure consumer safety.
