The organising committee of the “2021 Galaxy Entertainment [Group] Macau International Marathon” announced in a statement on Friday that the collection of items for the runners starts today.

The statement noted that the marathon will be held next Sunday and start and finish at the Macau Stadium and Pavilion in Taipa, with the marathon and half-marathon races starting at 6 a.m. and the mini-marathon race beginning at 6:15 a.m. It is co-organised by the Sports Bureau (ID) and the General Association of Athletics of Macau, while also being title-sponsored by the Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) for the 18th consecutive year, the statement noted.

According to the statement, the marathoners may collect their bibs, timing chips, identification wristbands “for anti-pandemic purposes” and information documents on the mezzanine floor of Broadway Macau. The statement added that the collection period will run from today until Friday, for which the collection time will be from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., and from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday.

The statement said that the runners may collect these items after presenting their registration receipts, identification documents, proof of two COVID-19 vaccination doses completed by November 21 and a valid negative COVID-19 Nucleic Acid Test (NAT) result inclusive of the race day. The statement added that those who cannot collect the items may allow another person to do so by signing the authorisation on the registration receipt, requiring collectors to present their ID, the registration receipt, and a copy of the participant’s ID, proof of COVID-19 vaccination and negative COVID-19 test result.

The statement underlined that “Fab 40”, a series of online activities will also be held. These include the “40 Years of Marathon Together” Photo Collection activity, “Fab 40” Marathon Photo Sharing and Lucky Draw and “40 Years of Running” game on the “Macao International Major Sporting Events” WeChat account. For a chance to win the Most Creative Costume Award, the marathoners may take a photo in costume and upload it to the Macau International Marathon mobile app. Meanwhile, the statement added that a 6-day carnival will be held at Broadway Macau starting from today, with the opening ceremony at Broadway Theatre at 5 p.m.

The statement emphasised that the runners must wear the provided identification wristband, follow the committee’s COVID-19 pandemic prevention measures, as well as read the event regulations.
