Foreign Ministry Commissioner Liu Xianfa has briefed senior representatives of Macau’s local English- and Portuguese-language media and Macau-based diplomats from the Portuguese-speaking countries about the outcome of the recent 6th Plenary Session of the 19th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee. The briefing was held at the Office of the Foreign Ministry Commissioner in Zape on Friday afternoon. Liu gave a well-prepared presentation in English, part of it with consecutive translation into Portuguese, about the plenum which passed a landmark resolution on the major achievements and historical experience of the CPC’s 100 years of endeavours. When asked by The Macau Post Daily in a Q&A session about how Macau could help promote President Xi Jinping’s Community of Common Destiny concept (also sometimes translated as “human community with a shared future”), which has become a major element of international relations and is generally accepted by the international community, Ambassador Liu pointed out that Macau is a prime example of an entity that shares the values of President Xi’s Community of Common Destiny. He underlined that Macau is a society where various ethnic communities and religions have been living side by side in harmony for half a millennium. Besides, Macau has been a centuries-old platform for cultural exchanges between the Occident and the Orient.
