The Judiciary Police (PJ) announced yesterday the arrest of a 32-year-old man for allegedly setting fire to the flat where his ex-wife is living in the Seac Pai Van public housing estate in Coloane, apparently to punish her for arguing with his current girlfriend.

A PJ spokesperson announced the case during a special press conference.

According to the spokesperson, the suspect, surnamed Lou, went to his former wife’s flat on Tuesday night. During the visit the couple got into a heated argument, in which Lou allegedly punched her. The victim fled to a neighbour’s flat where she reported the incident to the police.
