About a dozen residents joined an activity organised by Greenfriends Macau yesterday to pick up rubbish on the beach near Tam Kong Temple in Coloane.

Talking to The Macau Post Daily during the activity, Alex Ng Chi Kuan who heads the group, said it aimed to promote the message that residents need to work together for the protection of the city’s coastal environment.

The clean-up began at about 4 p.m. and ended at 6 p.m. The participants, wearing gloves, picked up pieces of rubbish with tongs and put them into large bin bags.
