A Filipina was arrested on December 18 at her home for stealing a bag containing the equivalent of 103,400 patacas in cash, according to a statement from the Public Security Police (PSP) last week.

According to the statement, a citizen reported to the Public Security Police on December 16 that he or she had lost a bag worth 1,000 patacas while walking in Rua de Seng Tou in Taipa (氹仔成都街) earlier that day. The victim told the police there was about 35,500 patacas, HK$55,900 and 10,300 yuan in cash in the bag.

The suspect is in her thirties.

PSP officers scrutinised the CCTV footage of the nearby area and identified her as the theft suspect. She was arrested on December 18 at her home. She admitted that she discovered the bag when she was walking in the street and picked it up, the statement said.

The suspect has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a theft-by-finding charge, according to the statement.
