Macau Post and Telecommunication Bureau (CTT) Director Lau Wai Meng told reporters yesterday that Portuguese voter who signed up to have their ballots mailed to Macau can expect to receive them in about two weeks’ time.
Lau made the remarks during a press conference about the new collection of Chinese New Year (CNY) coins and cards at the General Post Office (GPO)
According to Lau, Portugal is preparing to post the ballots to citizens living overseas. She added that the ballots were slated to be posted on New Year’s Eve and can be expected to arrive Macau in two weeks’ time.
Portugal’s presidential election will be held on January 24.
Meanwhile, on the topic of 5G licensing, Lau said that in the first quarter of the year the government report on the suggested 5G licensing procedures will be released. She pointed out that the report will be released in different phases, such as 5G licensing and guidelines for the telecommunication market development. Lau underlined she hoped that 5G will get off the ground this year.
Moreover, according to a statement handed out during the press conference, the bureau launched a new series of Lunar Year of the Tiger coins and cards on January 10. The statement said that the coins will be issued by the Macau Monetary Authority (AMCM) and be released at the Philatelic Shop of the General Post Office.
They will cost 1,230 patacas for a one-ounce “Lunar Year of the Tiger” silver coin, 7,200 patacas for a five-ounce “Lunar Year of the Tiger” silver coin and 15,000 patacas for 0.5-ounce “Lunar Year of the Tiger” gold coin. The card will be priced at 15 patacas, which includes the price of the stamp regardless of its postal destination.
