The Sports Bureau (ID) announced in a statement yesterday that complimentary tickets for the 2022 MGM Macao International Regatta on January 13-16 will be offered to members of the general public who can watch the regatta on its final day from a ferry setting off from the Inner Harbour.
The three-hour ferry trip is slated for January 16, with the ferry departing from the Inner Harbour Ferry Terminal at 8 a.m., the statement noted. It will head to the waters off the Macau Science Centre in Nape to watch the participating fleet parade, as well as the “International Catamaran Invitational” and then return to the ferry terminal.
The free tickets will be distributed this Sunday in the lobby of the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion starting from 10 a.m. The statement emphasised that “each person may collect a maximum of two tickets, and tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis”.
The statement did not mention how many tickets would be available.
Title-sponsored by MGM, the statement pointed out that the event is organised by the bureau and the Ursa Major Sailing Event Management in conjunction with the Marine and Water Bureau and the Macau Sailing Association. The competition will feature 37 teams from mainland China and from different parts of the world that will compete in three championships.
Moreover, ancillary activities will be held by the organisers and MGM including a fleet parade, photo competition, sailing boat demonstrations and parent-child workshops, among others, the statement added.
Due to the government’s COVID-19 pandemic prevention measures, the event organisers will follow the respective guidelines by the Health Bureau (SSM), as well as monitor the city’s pandemic situation.
