Macau Family Reunion Federation President Lei Iok Lan, 64, was sentenced by the Court of First Instance (TJB) yesterday to three months imprisonment, suspended for one year, for aggravated disobedience.

Talking to the media after the sentencing at Macau Square, Lei said she was “wronged” and disappointed by the sentence. She said she firmly believed she did not engage in an unlawful assembly. She said she would discuss with her lawyer whether to appeal the sentence.

The trial was about a scuffle outside the Legislative Assembly (AL) in August last year involving the police and over 100 mostly elderly members of the federation being refused entry to the legislature for a Q&A session with Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On.
