A car and a radio taxi collided outside Ocean Gardens in Taipa last night, slightly injuring both drivers, the Fire Services Bureau (CB) said in a statement.
According to the bureau, the crash occurred at around 7 p.m. near the roundabout where Avenida dos Jardins do Oceano (海洋花園大馬路) and Avenida do Oceano (海洋大馬路) meet.
The accident caused the car to flip on its side. The car driver managed to get out of his vehicle before firefighters and paramedics arrived at the scene.
He told firefighters that he had no passengers in his vehicle, the statement said.
The statement identified the cabbie as a 50-year-old man, while the car driver is a 79-year-old local man.
At the time of the accident, the taxi had a male passenger, who was not injured, the statement said.
According to the statement, the taxi driver sustained slight contusions on his right elbow, while the car driver told paramedics that he felt dizzy. The cabbie was taken to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre, while the car driver was taken to the private Kiang Wu Hospital. There were no updates about their conditions as of late last night.
The police have launched an investigation into the exact cause of the collision.
