The MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong Macau 2022 was released yesterday, with the number of Macau’s MICHELIN Starred restaurants drop by three to 15.
According to the MICHELIN Guide’s website, the 15 restaurants comprise 3 three-Star restaurants, 5 two-star restaurants and 7 one-star restaurants.
The MICHELIN Guide’s Facebook page reveales that the 3 three-Star restaurants are City of Dreams’ Jade Dragon, Grand Lisboa’s Robuchon au Dôme and The Eight.
Meanwhile, the 5 two-star restaurants are Alain Ducasse at Morpheus, StarWorld’s Feng Wei Ju, Mizumi (Macau), Wynn Palace’s Sichuan Moon, and Wing Lei at Wynn Macau.
The 7 one-star restaurants are Galaxy Macau’s Lai Heen and 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo- Bombana, Studio City’s Pearl Dragon, Grand Lisboa’s The Kitchen, Wing Lei Palace at Wynn Palace, Ying at Altira Macau, and Zi Yat Heen at Four Seasons.
Meanwhile, in Macau the guide also awarded seven Bib Gourmand restaurants, eight Street Food establishments, 20 MICHELIN Selected restaurants (including one new addition) and one MICHELIN Green Star restaurants
According to MICHELIN’s official website, “since 1997, ‘good quality, good value restaurants’ have been pointed out using the Bib Gourmand award. The price limit for ‘Bib’ consideration varies from country to country, depending on the cost of living. It’s not just about the price though – the cooking has to be good quality too.”
The list provided by MICHELIN yesterday did not identify the Bib Gourmand, Street Food and MICHELIN Selected restaurants in Macau. However, the list mentioned that the IFTM Educational Restaurant was awarded again the MICHELIN Green Star.
MICHELIN did not reveal which restaurants in Macau lost their star ranking.
According to Wikipedia, the MICHELIN Guides are guide books that have been published by the French tyre company MICHELIN since 1904 which award up to three MICHELIN stars for excellence to selected establishments.
