Macau Design Week 2021 (澳門設計周) showcasing designs created by local studios and catering businesses as well as a Singapore-based studio is being held at Albergue SCM’s gallery until Thursday.

The event is organised by the Macau Designers Association (MDA) in conjunction with the Albergue SCM and Arts Empowering Lab (AEL). It is supported by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC),

According to a statement by the association, the exhibition strives to unveil how designers convert philosophy and business stories into a visualised language. A dozen design studios and catering brands such as Quarter Square, Dino Burger, LOOP, and Foreign Policy Design Group from Singapore are participating in the exhibition.

The statement pointed out that the annual event aims to expand the imaginings of Macau design through community tours and exchanges. Thus, the association said it hoped to guide the public to explore more possibilities of local designs and understand the value of design in civil society in order to widen the public’s connection with local brands.

Designs are displayed on products such as paper bags, posters, pizza and take-away boxes, tin cans, and coffee cups. Sharp colours such as yellow, red and pink are used for the products.

The exhibition runs until Thursday at Gallery D1 of Albergue SCM at 8 Calçada da Igreja de São Lázaro from 12 noon to 8 p.m. Admission is free.
