2022 Chinese New Year Message

With the sound of firecrackers, the old year is removed, and the spring breeze brings warmth to Tu Su. On the occasion of the Chinese New Year, on behalf of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macau Special Administrative Region, I would like to extend my New Year's greetings to all my compatriots in Macau.
Yesterday, President Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the Spring Festival gathering of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the State Council, extending special New Year's greetings to the majority of Macau compatriots, which fully reflects the great importance and concern for Macau. President Xi Jinping pointed out that unity is strength, and struggle creates the future. Only the nation that can unite and struggle can have a future, and the political party that can work together will be invincible and have a bright future. President Xi’s important speech, which was sincere, thought-provoking and inspiring, will greatly inspire the confidence and pride of the people across the country, including the majority of Macau compatriots, to forge ahead in a new journey and make contributions to a new era.
The past year has been a year of unity and struggle in Macau. With the care of the central government and the support of the motherland, the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) has worked together and forged ahead, withstood the repeated test of the epidemic, its society is stable and harmonious, the economy is gradually recovering, the diversified development is swift and steady, the development of Hengqin is booming, and the love of the country and Macau is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. The hard-won achievements are the result of the strong leadership and strong support of the central government, and the result of the hard work of the Macau compatriots led by the MSAR government, demonstrating the advantages and strong vitality of the "One Country, Two Systems" principle. Macau’s extraordinary journey over the past year has fully proved that as long as we hold the people in our hearts, hold the truth in our hands, keep our feet on the right path of the world, always be far-sighted, be prepared for danger in times of peace, unite closely, and work hard, we will surely be able to overcome all kinds of risks and challenges on the road to challenges, new victories and new development have been continuously achieved.
This year is the Year of the Tiger “Renyin” in the lunar calendar. In traditional Chinese culture, the tiger is the animal of peace and the guardian deity, implying bravery and fearlessness, warding off evil and evil spirits. May the old get rid of the old and create new ideas, and the new year will be renewed every day. This year, the Communist Party of China (CPC) will hold its 20th National Congress to draw up a new blueprint for the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and the cause of "One Country, Two Systems" will also sketch a new picture. Looking forward to the future, Macau, which has embarked on a new journey, has a bright future ahead. As long as we keep in mind President Xi’s earnest entrustment, with the majesty of the tiger, the vigour of the tiger, and the spirit of walking along thousands of miles, we will steadily lay a solid foundation for development, continue to promote appropriate economic diversification, give full play to our unique advantages and integrate into the overall situation of national development, and continue to promote patriotism and love of Macau, embrace the spirit of the party, work together, keep upright and innovate, and work hard and not slack off. Then we will surely be able to write a new chapter in the successful practice of "One Country, Two Systems" with Macau characteristics.
