As a recent article titled “Customs seizes 10 tonnes of smuggled frozen meat after chasing speed boat” had aroused readers curiosity, The Macau Post Daily emailed the Macau Customs Service, which  confirmed in writing that the speedboat was indeed smuggling 10 tonnes of frozen meat.

According to the email received yesterday, “at 00H30 on 13th February 2022, the customs patrol speedboat found a suspicious high-speed speedboat of carrying out illegal activities at the sea near the Ponte de Amizade [Friendship Bridge], and was intercepted immediately. However, the suspicious speedboat immediately accelerated and fled. During the chase, the customs officers repeatedly ordered the individuals to stop the speedboat for inspection, but the speedboat continued to sail to the shore near the Science Museum and the two individuals on board jumped off the speedboat and fled. Customs officers successfully intercepted the two involved individuals and the high-speed speedboat in the case, and found a total of 13 bags of frozen meat weighing about 10,000 kilogrammes (10 tonnes) on the high-speed speedboat. The two involved male mainlanders have been transferred to the judicial authorities.”
